6 Physiotherapy Postgraduate Degree Courses in Canada

If you are thinking of pursuing a Physiotherapy Masters degree program in Canada you may want to think of a different strategy.
I have observed that Canadian Universities are more interested in educating their citizens or students with permanent residency.
So if you really really want to do your M.Sc Physiotherapy in Canada, consider applying for immigration first. As a permanent resident or citizen you actually pay less tuition fees. But hey, let me not discourage you, check out these Canadian Universities offering postgraduate courses in physiotherapy:

1. M.Sc Physical Therapy
University of Alberta
Course Duration 3years
Course fees Year 1 – Blocks 1, 2 & 3 – $9,052.80
Year 2 – Blocks 4, 5 & 6 – $7,970.40
Year 3- Block 7 – $1,869.60

RequirementsApproximately 15 percent of the available seats will be designated for out-of-province and international applicants. Preference will be given to residents of Alberta. 

Completion of a four-year baccalaureate degree or its academic equivalent in any field of study from an accredited post-secondary institution is required. 

Minimum GPA of 3.0 on the University of Alberta 4-point grading system or an equivalent standing from another recognized institution is required. However, a GPA of >3.6 for Alberta applicants and >3.8 for out of province applicants on the most recent sixty credits of study is recommended for a competitive application.

Applicants must demonstrate a high level of proficiency in English as English is the primary language of instruction at the University of Alberta. 

The Department of Physical Therapy considers the following as the minimum requirement;
A TOEFL (paper based) score of 580. You must also complete a TSE with a score of atleast 50
A TOEFL (internet based) score of 92 – no scale score less than 20
A TOEFL (computer based) score of 237
An IELTS overall band score of 6.5 with at least five on each band 

A minimum of 30 hours of volunteer or paid experience working hands on with individuals who have cognitive or physical disabilities.

Requirements
1. Completion of a recognized 4 year Bachelor’s Degree (120 units/credits) or its equivalent in any field
2. Completion of a minimum of 70 hours of Volunteer and/or Paid Work Experience at no more than 2 facilities
3. Achieve the Minimum Academic Requirements as set out by the Faculty of Graduate and Post-doctoral Studies .

For Nigeria:

2. An accredited 3 or 4 year undergraduate degree in any area of study, recognized by the University of Manitoba. For 2016 admission, degrees must be conferred by the Fall of 2016.
3. Successful completion of at least 24 credit hours in one regular Fall/Winter academic session (from September to April).
4. A minimum grade point average of 3.25 in the last 60 credit hours* of university-level study.

A 4 year baccalaureate degree (120 units/credits) or the equivalent.
A minimum average of B or 75% or 3.0/4 or 8/12 calculated over the last 60units/credits of your university degree work is required for admission.
One half or full credit in a biological or life science course with a grade of B or higher
one half or full credit in a social science or humanities course with a grade of B or higher

    hello respected sir/mam… i am bunny from india completed my bachelors in physiotherapy i have an query that whether the pg/diploma physiotherapy assistant course will have better job opportunities or better future or its just totally waste of money or whether pg diploma physiotherapy assistant course fulfills the lacking credentials or i have to do someother course after the completion of pg diploma PTA course…please please help me

    Hi Bunny, if I understand you well you have a B.Sc in Physiotherapy. Your study progression should be a PgDiploma in Physiotherapy and not a physiotherapy assistant program. Did I answer your question or is there a particular program you want to do?
